Annual Retreat for Priest Confreres

Meditation at early Morning

       On March 21 -26, the first group of confreres had a fruitful annual retreat at Yercaud, a hill area situated at 1,200 meters above the sea level. Confreres enjoyed their pleasant stay and a good accommodation given by Carmelite fathers. Fr. Devadoss, a Cleritian priest guided the retreat towards personal reflections about the religious life. It challenged everyone to a shining and loving model of our founder in his examples. Along with the retreat, the fathers enjoyed the hilly nature, pleasant air and the mood for the meditation.

FEAST of ST. JOSEPH

         We wish you a happy feast on the day of St. Joseph, patron of St. Joseph's Seminary, Cuddalore. The Guanellian Minor Seminary has formed more than 50 priests to the Congregation of Servants of Charity. 

Guanellian Colloborator, GPN, Bangalore

Hi Father,

            I am Stella Employed in a IT concern in Bangalore. Recently it was happened to me to visit GPN, Bangalore. This is when I came across Fr. Viswasam, a Guanellian.

            I am tongue tight and have no words and amazed looking at their work and the passion towards the poor. The Service that they are doing is so great. Most of us can only preach and when it comes to putting them into action many shy away. But this is not the case with the Guanellian fathers of Bangalore. They have immense respect for those that they serve.

            They are doing a lot of activity to support the differently challenged, poor, and sick. Fr. Visuwasam plays a key role in forming a committee to work on implementing his good thoughts. He goes on working for the poor. It made me happy to be a Guanellian collaborator with them. I am happy to be among them to serve the needy. Our aim is to spread the good work and involve more people enabling us to reach ever more who need support.

Whenever I visit the Gunnellians I am so inspired and always felt at home. I pray that the Gunellians are blessed more and more to carry out their mission.

"Come let's join hands with Guanellians to reach Angels of God on earth"

St. Guanella - From 23rd October

          Finally Pope Benedict XVI presided at an ordinary consistory (a meeting of the cardinals present in Rome) on February 21 and has approved the canonization of three new saints.

What is interesting to us is each of the new candidates for canonization is the founder of a religious order:

• Blessed Guido Maria Conforti (1865-1931) was Archbishop of Parma, Italy and founder of the Xaverian Missionaries.
• Blessed Luigi Guanella (1842-1915), an Italian priest, founded the Servants of Charity and the Daughters of Our Lady of Providence
• Blessed Bonifacia Rodriguez Castro (1837-1905) is the Spanish foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters Servants of Saint Joseph.

the Guanellian world may double his joy and love through out the communities and houses. Let us thank the good God for his love and grace.

The Promised Land: Sugar Cane in Yesuvanam

           The Lord has blessed the Yesuvanam community with 35 acres of land. It is our dream that we should bring some local income through the agriculture. The fathers take different efforts to realize it. The Lord has blessed us with good rain this year. So with the help of the Sakthi Sugar cane company we had planted sugar cane for 4.5 acres. Since there is Scarcity of water we have realized drip irrigation for the sugar cane. The government has given Rs.20, 000/- per acre as subsidy for this drip irrigation.  We hope that through sugar cane harvest we could get at least Rs.2, 00,000/- of income for next year.   ‘Pray and work’ is the program of the Guanellian.  We the fathers and brothers of Yesuvanam community pray together and work together for the growth of our congregation. At present the water level is gone down. We request you to pray for good rain. May the good Lord Bless us through our Founder

Church Construction at Kumbakonam

         Servant of Charity is building a Church in Kumbakonam Diocese. The church construction in Guanella Nagar parish, Kumbakonam is gracefully making its journey towards the sky. At present the three-fourth of the work has been completed. Many people from surrounding used to say that this is the church which has started bringing people of different sects, thoughts, traditions, feelings, ideas, and beliefs into one family. When we hear this soothing and miraculous expression from people itself, we could really feel the magnanimous job of our divine providence through our founder. So, It is our bounded duty to make our unceasing prayer for these people and for the process of building the church, dedicated to our Lady of Divine Providence, so that the long awaited dream of making spiritual shelter for these homeless faithful will be experienced as a reality very soon.
